The Hale Band provides a wide variety of musical opportunities that allows everyone a chance to reach their highest possible level of excellence and artistry.
The Hale Band will kick off the school year with band camp, and the opportunity to hone their playing skills as well as begin the process of learning the show for our outstanding marching band. Performances band include home football games, contests as well as parades.
The Hale Band Program features an emphasis on our concert organization. These focus on a student's personal growth in developing their talents as an artist. Our performing ensembles will present several public concerts as well as assessments at the District and State levels by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Association.
In addition to ensemble success, members of the Hale Band distinguish themselves through individual efforts in Tulsa Metro Honor Band, All-State, OSSAA District-State Solo & Ensemble Contests, and other Honor band activities.
Hard-working students, dedicated, staff members, involved and active parents, and a supportive administration, and community all combine to make it possible for the Hale Music Program to offer an outstanding array of musical opportunities.
Our students are expected to set and reach high goals for themselves and their program. The rewards of meeting those expectations are immeasurable in the development of our students as well-rounded human beings and artists. Members of the Hale Band will develop musically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and physically during their time in the program.
Remember to have a great band, we must all maintain a strong commitment to excellence!
Mr. Broyles teaches three classes at Hale High School. One – Advanced Mixed Chorus – is auditioned and has approximately 35 students. They work on sight-reading skills, contest and concert literature, show choir singing and dancing. This performance-based group does extra performances around school and members of the choir sing the National Anthem at home Football and Basketball games. This year, they’re going to another set of contests at the state level. Six members of this choir were members of the Metro Honor Choir in the fall of this school year. Two other classes fill a fine arts requirement for students at Hale. In each class, they learn about performance techniques – both chorally and solo, and they also learn to sight-read and how to apply those concepts to read music scores. Interested students also spend time learning keyboarding skills. Writing words and music to create their own songs is being explored this semester. Budding composers abound at Hale! Stay tuned!
