Hello My Name Is...

Ms. Guerrero

A little bit about me……

Hola (hello) this is my thirteen year with TPS and my first here at the Nathan Hale High School!

I teach Spanish I.  I begin my masters’ degree work in 1993 at the University of Miami in Florida and transfer to ORU where I graduated in 1998 with a Master’s Degree of Education. I also attended University in Mexico and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelors’ Degree of Education. I lived in Mexico for 16 years and learned so much about its’ people and culture. This experience enabled me to see the world in a different light and how necessary it is for people to know more than one language. I enjoy talking and teaching Spanish.  Nothing thrills me more than to see the faces of my students after taking Spanish for a few months and coming back to class telling me that they were at a store, a restaurant, at school in the hall, at church, at their place of employment or just watching television and knew exactly what was being said, or that they got a pay raise at work because they are bilingual, WOW!! This just makes my day!!! I love to see my students talk and write in Spanish and say exactly what they want to convey in an intelligible way. I express to my students how important it is to be bilingual, and make them realize that this will only open more doors of opportunity in the business world. Spanish is the world’s third most important language; if you know Spanish you can learn other languages such as, Italian, French, Latin and /or Portuguese. Students will enjoy a little bit of everything in class such as music, cultural activities that will create what I call “A being there experience” for them, food, literature, videos, dancing and of course a lot of academic enrichment activities to expose them to all aspects of the language; and although the course may be rigorous they will have lots of fun!!!! Welcome to a great year!!!!
